In 1963 the textile designer John Becker (1915-1986) designed the tea towel which launched GEORG JENSEN DAMASK’s designed tea towel production. Until then, tea towels had been part of the product range, but never as a design object. Becker’s deliberate check pattern and stripes were a substantial success and ever since, tea towels created by designers have been a large and stable part of the product range. The 2011-version of BECKER 63 will be available in the colours Brown Sugar, Peppermint, Candyfloss and Green Tea. These colours have a strong retro touch, and the old archives were consulted in order to match the original shades as closely as possible.
The tea towels are woven in a combination of flax and cotton which ensures optimal drying capacity. The kitchen towel is available in 50 x 80 cm. and costs DKK 98.00.
BECKER 63 is sold in GEORG JENSEN DAMASK stores throughout Denmark and at damask.dk from week 31. To find your nearest retailer, please call tel. +45 75 52 27 00.
