The winter chill may still bite our cheeks, but the days are getting longer and there’s a vague hint of spring in the air. To mark the coming of spring, GEORG JENSEN DAMASK is launching a new design in the GJD product line called GJD STRIPES. The beautiful new tea towels bring the joy of spring into your home, livening up the kitchen with their light, fresh hues while we wait for brighter spring days to arrive.

FUSUMA, Georg Jensen Damask's latest design, is the result of a fortunate cultural encounter where Asiatic fashions meet Nordic. Designer Rika Kawato, born in 1981, is the daughter of a Danish mother and a Japanese father, and this influence from two such widely differing cultures has always been a fundamental element of Rika's work as a designer, as can also be seen in her FUSUMA tablecloth. FUSUMA is sold from week 40.

In 1963 the textile designer John Becker (1915-1986) designed the tea towel which launched GEORG JENSEN DAMASK’s designed tea towel production. Becker’s deliberate check pattern and stripes were a substantial success and ever since, tea towels created by designers have been a large and stable part of the product range. The 2011-version of BECKER 63 will be available in the colours Brown Sugar, Peppermint, Candyfloss and Green Tea. These colours have a strong retro touch, and the old archives were consulted in order to match the original shades as closely as possible.

Bent Georg Jensen has designed the new, refined bed linen TRIPP. TRIPP is designed as a staircase, which is repeated and broken only by a vertical line. The staircase effect is accentuated by the alternating matt and glossy surfaces, which are characteristic of the damask weave. It is a pattern which is both classic and modern in all its simplicity. The products are available in our stores and on damask.dk from week 15.
