Inger M Blegvad Klint drew the classic motifs for the HANS CHRISTIAN ANDERSEN TABLECLOTH in the period 1930-50. She was inspired by fairy tales such as The Swineherd, The Emperor’s New Clothes, The Steadfast Tin Soldier, The Shepherdess and the Chimney Sweep, The Tinder Box, The Princess and the Pea, The Ugly Duckling and Numbskull Jack, as well as Hans Christian Andersen’s delicate paper cuttings. The first HANS CHRISTIAN ANDERSEN TABLECLOTH was launched in 1952 with Queen Ingrid as the first customer. The tablecloth was later relaunched by Bent Georg Jensen and today the collection also includes place mats and runners with selected motifs.
